Evaluation of the vocal cords and masses in the head-and-neck region; learn about the diagnosis and treatment process for hoarseness, nodules, polyps, and swellings in the neck. Op. Dr. Koray Kırbıyık, Çerkezköy / Tekirdağ.

WHAT IS VOICE SURGERY?
The voice is the most fundamental tool of our communication. Lesions that develop on the vocal cords, such as nodules, polyps, and cysts, or conditions such as vocal cord paralysis, can impair voice quality and seriously affect daily and professional life. Voice surgery involves the precise microsurgical operations performed to correct such problems.
Op. Dr. Koray Kırbıyık diagnoses the underlying cause of hoarseness and other voice disorders through a detailed endoscopic examination. When necessary, he aims to restore the natural tone and quality of the voice by removing lesions on the vocal cords without damaging the surrounding tissue. These treatments are of great importance for teachers, vocal artists, and all professionals who work with their voice.

WHAT ARE HEAD-AND-NECK TUMORS?
The head and neck region contains vital organs such as the larynx, pharynx, oral cavity, nose, sinuses, and salivary glands. Benign or malignant tumors that develop in these areas can lead to serious health problems. Symptoms such as swelling in the neck, persistent hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or non-healing sores must be evaluated by an ENT specialist.
Op. Dr. Koray Kırbıyık takes a meticulous approach to the early diagnosis and surgical treatment of head-and-neck tumors. An accurate diagnosis made at an early stage is the most critical factor for the success of treatment. Through the detailed examination and evaluation performed at our clinic, the most appropriate road map is drawn up for your treatment process.
Early diagnosis is vitally important; do not lose time in getting an evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Voice rest is critically important for the delicate healing process of the vocal cords. Depending on the procedure performed, complete voice rest (including whispering) is generally recommended for 3 to 7 days.
Because it is performed with microsurgical technique, that is, with very fine instruments under a microscope, it is a quite safe operation. The most significant risk is that the voice may not heal to the desired quality. Following the voice rest rules is very important to minimize this risk.
Surgery permanently resolves structural problems on the vocal cord such as nodules or polyps. However, if the improper voice use that caused the problem (shouting, smoking, etc.) continues, there is a risk of new lesions forming. For this reason, voice therapy may also be recommended after the operation.
After the voice rest period, the voice is gradually put back into use. Noticeable improvement in voice quality is generally observed within a few weeks, and it may take a few months for the final result to settle.
